Black Ops review: Treyarch is the B team, and Black Ops is garbage. Any questions?

I wanted to love Black Ops. I really did. The first few weeks were fun, but there were some major red flags from the day one. Lets get right to the heart of the matter, Black Ops has the absolute worst fucking hit detection in Call of Duty history. If an FPS developer fails in the most basic area (that being the shooting/contact mechanic) then the game itself is completely worthless. Treyarch further complicates matters by implementing a new unwanted dumb feature called flinch. Essentially flinch is when you roll up on a dude, shoot him, he shoots you, but remember your not shooting a dude you’re shooting a hit box with an assigned numerical value. So while you’re trying to kill that hit box, the dude is shooting you and that causes you to flinch and jerk your gun off target and make you inaccurate. This inevitably results in sloppy gun fights, and a feeling of being ripped off if the other guy gets the kill even though you hit him first. But that’s only one part of the problem.

There’s also the laggy ass kill cam. It’s been like this since Call of Duty 4, but I think it’s at it’s worse in Black Ops. How many times do you have to roll up on a dude, shoot the shit out of him, get two or three hit markers, get killed, then you see that laggy kill cam that shows you barely even getting a shot off. Something is fundamentally wrong with the how the Call of Duty engine processes one on one gun battles. It’s never quite worked right. But it’s become horrendous in Black Ops. To the point were I can’t even play this stupid game anymore. Oh, and I didn’t even mention the horrible fucking spawning and those garbage ass inaccurate recoil weapons. Basically if you’re using anything other than the Commando, Ak47, or AKu, well good luck because you’ll need it.

I retire with a 1.71 k/d         And a 1.00 broken controller percentage.
